Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation of the dead skin cells from the face. During treatment, a small blade is held an angle and stroked along the skin, removing the fine hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells. Dermaplaning can be used prior to other skin treatments such as chemical peels as a “pre-exfoliation”.
What does dermaplaning do?
Dermaplaning removes the buildup of dead cells on the skin’s surface which creates softer, smoother skin. After treatment, skin looks brighter, fine lines are minimized, makeup goes on more smoothly, and skincare products penetrate the skin better. Any fine facial hair is also removed.
How many treatments do I need and how long does it last?
Dermaplaning works best when used as a regular maintenance treatment for the skin. It can be performed monthly to maintain exfoliation and promote smooth skin.
Is there down-time?
There is absolutely no down time with dermaplaning.
What are the side-effects?
Some patients experience mild sensitivity after their treatment. Very rarely, the skin receives a small nick, which heals immediately.
